The castle, standing on a rocky island above the surface of a pond, hides in its core the remnants of an original fortress from the 14th century. The current Renaissance building was built after 1530 but was further developed in the course of the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century. This is when it gained its current Pseudo-Renaissance look. The castle interior of the first floor presents the authentic noble residence of the last owners, the princes of the Schönburg-Hartenstein family from the period after 1910. The exhibition in the attic rooms illustrates the world of the minor aristocracy and their chamber servants from the period of the end of monarchy and the fi rst Republic. The pleasant atmosphere is completed with a small picture gallery as well as the unique contemporary castle theater. A landscape park which gained its current appearance at the turn of the 19th and 20th century is a part of the premises. Its most significant feature is the Castle Pond. You can rent a boat and enjoy unexpected views onto the castle building and the surrounding nature from the water surface.
