This water work shows several rarities. First, this lake has the greatest amount of water in Bohemia, has the highest concrete dam, and the second most powerful water plant in the Czech Republic. The dam itself is gravitational and the concrete from which it was made is protected with a global Czech patent in the fi eld of concreting. The equipment that manufactured the concrete was the most modern in the world in the 1950’s, including its digital scales and building laboratory. Excursions of the work may be performed all year round.
Attraction:
The reservoir functions as a huge battery, and all water flowing into it is completely held and subsequently driven through the power plant. Great fl uctuations of the water level must therefore be taken into account at the Orlík Reservoir.
