This zoo specializes in breeding crocodiles, caymans and gharials. It houses 22 species, including fi ve critically endangered ones, and has the most extensive collection of crocodile species in Europe. The zoo also breeds the biggest crocodile living in Bohemia: a male saltwater crocodile named Golem, who is almost fi ve metres long. A section of the exhibition is also a so-called prehistoric zoo made up of museum and osteological exhibits representing the entire evolutional line of animals from invertebrates to apes, complemented with living fossils, such as scorpions, West African lungfi sh and alligator snapping turtles. The zoo can be visited all year round.
