Holašovice – UNESCO

Holašovice is the best-preserved example of South Bohemian architecture from the second half of the 19th century. This is a unique set of farm buildings, built and decorated to produce a specific look known as Rustic Baroque, centered around a large village green. The unique character of the village is reinforced by the fact that this is not an open-air museum but a permanently populated village, thus creating a living community in the environment of a country residence.

Attraction:
The village of Holašovice, founded as early as in the course of the 13th century, was obtained in 1292 by the Cistercian monastery in Vyšší Brod from king Wenceslas II as compensation for another property. Holašovice stayed in the monastery’s possession for the next five and a half centuries until the end of feudalism.
