Protected landscape area Třeboňsko

The landscape of the region Třeboňsko  has been shaped by human activities for centuries, which has led to the creation of an extremely valuable mosaic of ponds, forests, waterfalls, peat bogs and human settlements. As early as 1977, Třeboň was declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO. Most valuable parts of the countryside are protected in 32 nature reserves and monuments. According to NATURY 2000, Třeboňsko is also one of the bird areas and, above all, the center of Czech fish farming, which counts up to 460 ponds.
